Sukhoi goes missing near Tezpur in Assam
A Su-30MKI fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force went missing while on a routine sortie in Assam.
‘A Su-30 aircraft airborne on a routine training mission lost radar and radio con- tact approximately 60 km North of Tejpur. The aircraft is overdue and actions have been initiated,’ sources in the IAF said.
Su-30MKI is the mainstay and the most modern fighter aircraft in the IAF invento- ry. India has contracted 272 Su-30MKIs from Russia, of which over 240 have been inducted so far.
GSAT-9 heralds cost-saving technology
GSAT-9 or the South Asia Satellite will carry a new feature that will eventual- ly make advanced Indian spacecraft far lighter.
The 2,195-kg
GSAT-9, took off on a GSLV-09 rocket on May 5, carries an electric propulsion or EP system. The hardware is a first on an Indian spacecraft.
GSLV successfully launches South Asia Satellite
India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F09) successfully launched the South Asia Satellite (GSAT-9) into its planned Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
This launch of GSLV was its eleventh and took place from the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR), Sriharikota, the spaceport of India.
This is the fourth consecutive success achieved by GSLV carrying indigenously developed Cryogenic Upper Stage.
